Working together

Watch more of our films:

When we film, we don't ask people to perform or become someone they're not. We simply spend time together, capturing conversations, relationships and everyday moments as they naturally unfold.

Some people want to document four generations around a table. Others want to capture a marriage, the bond between a parent and child, siblings, lifelong friends or a grandparent whose stories deserve to be remembered.

We tell stories about the relationships that shape who we are.

Many people assume their lives aren't interesting enough for a documentary. But the stories that stay with us are rarely the biggest ones. They're the familiar voices, shared jokes, quiet conversations and little moments that seem ordinary until they're gone.

These films preserve more than memories. They capture personalities, relationships and the feeling of being together in a way photographs never can.

The right moment to tell these stories is rarely obvious while you're living them. Most people only realise how precious a chapter was after it has changed.

If there's a relationship, a person or a season of life you'd love to hold onto, we'd love to hear from you.

Based in London. Available wherever the story takes us.

What's the process?

Listen first

Every story begins with a conversation. We'll talk about the people, the relationships and the chapter of life you'd like to preserve. You don't need to have everything figured out, we'll help uncover what matters most.

Find the story

Every relationship has its own rhythm. Together, we'll discover the story that's already there. It might centre on one person, two people or several generations. Sometimes there's a milestone; often, it's simply the beauty of everyday life.

Spend time together

This is the filming stage, though it rarely feels like a film shoot. We spend time with you, observing, chatting and capturing real moments as they naturally unfold. No scripts. No performances. Just people being themselves.

Shape the story

Back in the edit, we carefully weave together conversations, moments and memories into a documentary that feels true to the people at its heart.

A film to keep

Before the film is finalised, you'll have the chance to watch it and share any thoughts. The finished documentary becomes a lasting record of the people, voices and relationships that have shaped your life.

What Our Clients Say

Celia has a rare ability to see the story that's already there. She wasn't interested in creating moments for the camera; she quietly observed the relationship between us and captured it with warmth, honesty and extraordinary sensitivity. Watching the film felt like seeing ourselves through fresh eyes. It preserves not only our conversations and memories, but the connection between us.

Amara S

You have created the most beautiful and lasting snapshot of my family in all their warts and glory - but somehow even the warts have been sensitively rendered! I have watched, re-watched, and forwarded many many times for my own and others’ laughs and tears. Thank you for now and for the future too as I know this wonderfully shot piece of film will keep getting played at events and for simple enjoyment for years and perhaps even decades to come.

Sophie G

Celia is very skillful at turning everyday family nonsense and general chit-chat into an amusing but emotionally sensitive film which is beautifully curated. She has a good eye for spotting the funny, quirky moments within family interactions that are often overlooked. We love our family film documenting a snapshot of three generations and it will be cherished in the years to come.

A few questions you might have

Will this be shared publicly?

Only if everyone involved agrees. Some films are made exclusively for families, while others are shared through Relatively Speaking. Any public use is discussed and agreed in advance, with clear written consent

What if we don't know what story to tell?

That's completely normal. Most families come to us with a feeling rather than a fully formed idea. Part of our job is helping uncover the stories, relationships and moments that are already there. You don't need to arrive with a plan, we'll figure it out together.

What exactly do you film?

We create observational documentary films about families and capture real life as it unfolds, focusing on the personalities, dynamics, and stories that shape who you are. We chat together to work out what’s the best fit for you and your family and go from there.

What kinds of families do you work with?

All kinds. Biological families. Blended families. Single parents. Grandparents. Siblings who can't agree on anything. Chosen families who function like family. If people matter deeply to one another, we're interested in their story

How long does the filming take?

Every project is different, but most family films involve around 6–8 hours of filming. Some stories need less, some need more. We'll agree on an approach together before filming begins.

Do you interview us?

Yes, but naturally. We have relaxed conversations rather than formal interviews. There are no scripts, no rehearsed answers, and no pressure to say anything a certain way.

Where do you film?

Usually in your home or wherever life naturally happens: kitchens, backyards, family gatherings, favourite walking routes, local cafés - the places that already mean something to you. We'll discuss what feels most comfortable and appropriate for your story.

How much does it cost?

Every story is different. Costs depend on filming time, editing requirements and the final film deliverables. Get in touch and we'll create a proposal based on your family's needs.

Is it worth the money?

Only you can answer that. But unlike most purchases, these films often become more valuable with time. They preserve voices, stories, relationships and personalities that would otherwise exist only in memory.

We're camera-shy, is that a problem?

Not at all. Almost everyone says this before filming. Our approach is quiet and unobtrusive, and after a short while most people forget the camera is there. We usually work alone or as a very small crew, which helps keep things relaxed and natural.

How do we get started?

Reach out through the contact form and tell us a little about your family: who you are, what makes you you, and why you’d like your story captured. We’ll take it from there.

How big is your team?

Usually one person, occasionally two depending on the project.

What equipment do you use?

We film using professional broadcast-quality cameras and sound equipment to create beautifully crafted films that still feel natural and authentic. We prefer to work with available light wherever possible rather than turning your home into a film set.

If we agree our film can go on YouTube, do we need to sign a release form?

Yes. All adult participants are required to sign a release form granting us permission to film, edit, and use the footage as outlined in your agreement. For participants under 18, a parent or legal guardian must sign on their behalf. It will only go on YouTube with your written consent.

Where are you based and do you travel?

Based in London UK, travel all over the UK and beyond!

We are too boring!

You're probably not. Almost every family says this. The stories that stay with us are rarely the most dramatic ones. They're the familiar voices, relationships, routines and moments that feel ordinary while we're living them. That's where the magic usually is.

When is the right time?

There is rarely a perfect time to make a family film. Children grow up. Parents get older. Relationships change. Chapters close.

Let's start the conversation
