Suzanne knows something about difficult times herself. Her own experience of recovery has changed not only her life, but the way she sees other people.
Rather than walking past the young woman, she becomes curious about her. As they talk, the young woman describes a childhood marked by trauma and the circumstances that have contributed to where she finds herself now.
It's a small encounter, but it raises a much bigger question about homelessness and human relationships. How differently might we see the people we pass every day if we knew something about the lives that came before?
